A healthy baby girl, Fiona Springer, was the first child to be born in Clallam County on Jan. 1, arriving at 5:46 a.m. on New Year’s Day.
“It’s very sweet,” said Sierra Springer, Fiona’s mother. “Her original due date was Christmas so she still gets a holiday.”
The Springers, Jeremy, 28, and Sierra, 24, of Sequim have one 3-year-old daughter, Poppy.
Fiona was born at 8 pounds, 7 ounces, though neither parent could recall how long the baby was.
Sierra Springer said the family was at the hospital for about two hours before the baby was born.
Olympic Medical Center typically delivers more than 400 babies annually, the hospital said.
