More than 400 children turned out on May 20 for the Kids’ Fishing Day at the Water Reuse Demonstration Park pond, said organizers with the Puget Sound Anglers of the North Olympic Peninsula Chapter.
Bob Keck, president of the local chapter, said they loaded 1,700 fish earlier in the week with about 200 of those jumbo rainbow trout. They loaded 1,000 more fish on Monday and plan to bring in another 2,000 later in the summer, he said.
Children 14 and under can fish in the pond all summer long without a fishing permit, organizers said.
Kids’ Fishing Day continues as a partnership between the City of Sequim, Department of Fish & Wildlife and the Anglers.
