KSQM sets ‘Old West’ spring fundraiser

KSQM 91.5 FM is going back to the “Old West” for its Spring Fund Drive.

From June 5-14, volunteers will detain willing participants for bail to help the nonprofit community radio station.

K-Squad detainees, such as Sequim Rotary president Anna Richmond, will be released after they meet their fundraising goal, or after two hours have passed. Richmond set a $2,000 goal for her release.

Each detainee will be held in the John Wayne room in the front of the KSQM Studios, 609 W. Washington St., Suite 17, so friends and family can can come by, organizers said.

Announcers will also ask for on-air pitches to help with each detainee’s release.

Organizers say raising money by setting bail for alleged offenses is all in fun and all bail monies are used to benefit the radio station.

Some of the other detainees include Joe D’Amico, president of Security Services NW ($2,5000), Sequim pioneer Bob Clark ($2,000), Marie Dickinson, owner of Mariner Cafe ($2,000), and “Sassy” Susan Sorensen ($4,000).
