Gary Cooper, 43, of Lakewood, crashed his motorcycle at about 6:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 20.

He was traveling west on U.S. Hwy 101 when he struck the guardrail and was ejected from the bike.

Cooper was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with injuries to his arms, jaw, ribs and sternum.

Medical staff said he was in serious condition in intensive care as of Tuesday, Sept. 21.

A Washington State Patrol report indicates fatigue was a factor in the crash.

Cooper was cited for negligent driving, not having a valid operator’s license and driving without a motorcycle endorsement.

He was wearing a helmet but his 2003 Harley Davidson XL 1200 sustained $750 in damages.

Cooper’s was the only vehicle involved in the crash.
