Land trust hosts work party, bike ride for National Trails Day

North Olympic Land Trust celebrates National Trails Day, June 2, with two community events.

From 10 a.m.-noon volunteers can join a work party at Siebert Creek Conservation Area for the construction of a new trail, to be opened later this year to the public for nonmotorized transportation. Tools, drinks and snacks are provided; bring work gloves, water and rain gear.

The property is at the end of Siebert Creek Road, part way between Port Angeles and Sequim, off U.S. Highway 101.

From 1-5 p.m. cyclists can take a ride on the Olympic Discovery Trail, starting at Robin Hill County Park at the Pinnell Road parking lot. Stops will include five properties protected by NOLT with conservation easements.

Total distance is 14 miles round-trip, with 1-2 miles of hiking.

RSVP by Thursday, May 31, to Lorrie Campbell at 417-1815, Ext. 7, or lorrie@nolt.org.
