No residents were injured in what investigators say appears be an accidental fire that started in the laundry room in a Sequim home.
At about 2:06 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, Clallam County Fire District 3 firefighters were dispatched to a residential structure fire on the 100 block of Cliff Robinson Lane, just south of U.S. Highway 101 near Agnew.
The first arriving engine was on scene at 2:12 p.m. and found a two-story home with heavy smoke and flames visible from the laundry room.
According to a district press release, neighbors said they’d recently returned from having lunch and noticed heavy smoke coming from the laundry room.
Firefighting crews stretched a hose line into the laundry room and controlled the fire despite “encountering zero visibility conditions,” district officials said.
Fire investigators on scene said the cause is undetermined but that the fire appears to be accidental.
No one was injured during the incident, district officials. The homeowners have insurance, they said, and family was on scene to assist with short-term housing.
Clallam County Fire District 3 responded with two engines, three tenders, one medic unit, one rescue unit and a command unit, totaling 16 personnel.
Clallam County Fire District 2 was requested for mutual aid and ran medical calls during the fire.
