North Olympic Library System has rescheduled its Space Odyssey show by the Pacific Science Center at its four branches.
The program will be presented at 3:30 p.m. Monday, July 23, at the Clallam Bay Library; at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Sequim Middle School, 301 W. Hendrickson; at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Port Angeles Library; and at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Forks Library.
The fun and educational show takes off with a mind-blowing demonstration about balloons in the vacuum of space. Contemplate the real size of the moon, investigate astronomy tools like spectroscopes and telescopes, and then cheer for your team in a race between a child and a flashlight, demonstrating the concept of a light year by comparing it to a “kid year”.
The show is presented in conjunction with Dream Big, Read!, the North Olympic Library System’s annual Summer Reading program for young people of all ages, which runs through Saturday, August 4, at all four NOLS libraries. Besides enjoying books and reading, participants are eligible for prizes, including a grand prize of a Nook Touch. The performances are made possible with support from the Friends of the Library.
