Local goes on ‘Let’s make a Deal’

With a patriotic tip of the hat, Sequim native Kyler Adams, 23, made a good deal on TV last week.

Dressed as Uncle Sam, Adams appeared on the CBS reincarnation of “Let’s Make a Deal” hosted by Wayne Brady on Dec. 13.

“It was exciting but it made me nervous,” he said. “It’s definitely a different experience.”

One of the customs for the show is wearing costumes, which Adams and family members pieced together using random items.

Adams said he went on the show in Studio City, Calif., during a family vacation in early September to celebrate his grandfather’s 80th birthday.

“My mom got us tickets and she was looking for fun stuff for us to do,” he said.

Adams was chosen on the show to answer a question for $4,000 — which toy was released in the 1960s — the Ken doll, Mister Potato Head or Pong. Adams said he wasn’t quite sure, so he was given the chance to choose what was behind a mysterious curtain. He chose it and won a grill and smoker.

(The correct answer was the Ken doll.)

All in all, Adams appeared on TV for a few minutes but he doesn’t have game show fever.

“I don’t know about that. I’m not a big game show watcher,” he said with a laugh.

Adams is a business systems analyst for Microsoft in Seattle.
