Log truck kills Sequim man near Sedro-Woolley

A logging truck driver from Sequim was run over and killed by his own truck Tuesday morning on a logging road east of Sedro-Woolley, the Washington State Patrol reported early Tuesday, Dec. 30.

A state patrol report notes that Richard G. Rector, a 56-year-old man from Sequim, was driving a 2007 Peterbilt tractor and hauling a 1955 log utility trailer. Rector stopped the vehicle to check the front brakes, but the brakes released and Rector was dragged underneath the vehicle.

State patrol trooper Mark Francis said the incident happened just before 6 a.m. north of Hamilton in Skagit County.

No one else was hurt in the accident, according to the state patrol.
