Milestone: Artful effort to end homelessness

Officials with the Serenity House of Clallam County held “The Art of Ending Homelessness,” their first fundraiser in 13 years, on May 21 in Sequim — where area artists donated an array of creations in support of the nonprofit.

Officials with the Serenity House of Clallam County held “The Art of Ending Homelessness,” their first fundraiser in 13 years, on May 21 in Sequim — where area artists donated an array of creations in support of the nonprofit.

At least $11,000 was raised during the evening  with about 95 guests in attendance to both foster and recognize the past progress of the Serenity House.

Pictured (from left), Sen. Jim Hargrove joins Scott Schaefer, Serenity House of Clallam County board president. Hargrove was of one two state senators present and honored at the organization’s event.

Since 2006 and the implementation of their Ten Year Plan to end homelessness, Serenity House staff, volunteers and advocates have helped reduce homelessness in Clallam County by 65 percent.
