The City of Sequim presented the second annual “Westcott Award” to Pamela Leonard-Ray for her service in the volunteer position of Volunteer Coordinator for the city and for her commitment to the local volunteer community.

The award was presented at the city’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner held Wednesday, April 15.

Leonard-Ray began volunteering for the city in 2013. Since then she has taken the volunteer program to a new level by developing procedures and processes, creating the ability to track volunteer hours, developing job descriptions, recruiting new volunteers and developing a volunteer clearinghouse for all local agencies looking for volunteers and placing their needs on the city’s website.

“When Pam became our volunteer coordinator, she got involved on every level. Not only did she develop the tools needed to advance the program, she actively participated in National Day of Service, took organic garden classes and organized planting areas in the June Robinson Memorial Garden to support the food bank and helped to promote the program through speaking engagements and promoting volunteers through the ‘Volunteer Corner’ articles in the city newsletter,” said City Clerk Karen Kuznek-Reese.

The Westcott Award, named for Emily Westcott in recognition to her commitment to volunteer service within the community, will be presented annually to a city volunteer in recognition of exemplary service.
