The first place-winning team of Barbara Burrows, Betty Kettel, Marlene Erickson and Lyn Gilbert celebrate a win at The Cedars at Dungeness Lady Niners’ third Memorial Tournament on May 15.

The tourney, held to remember the lady golfers who have died over the years and to raise funds for the Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County saw 34 participants — the group’s largest turnout yet.

Bette Wood, patient care manager for Volunteer Hospice, explained that VHCC provides a wide range of services for people at the end stage of their lives and for their families and caregivers, and that Volunteer Hospice has been providing these services in Clallam since 1978 at no cost to the families or to the taxpayers.

Tournament chairman Jo Hendrickson announced the group had raised about $1,300 this year — another tournament record.

Taking the second-place team honors with a two-under-par round of 35 (one shot back of the winners) were Lisa Ballantyne, Barb Thompson, Pat Charters and Lindsay Busch.

KP honors went to Pat Conway on hole No. 3 and Barbara Burrows on hole No. 8.
