KSQM hits $30,000 fundraising goal
Sequim Community Broadcasting, owner and operator of KSQM 91.5 FM, announced that the recent weeklong On-Air Summer “FUN-Drive” was a success, breaking the overall goal.
“We went beyond our goal of $30,000 and are still counting as donations continue to roll in,” board president Lynda Perry said.
“This broadcasting success was as a result of the wonderful collaboration of efforts of KSQM volunteers and listeners on both sides of the microphone.”
The on-air fund-drive was motivated by the need to replace aging equipment such as computer servers, back-up servers, studio production upgrades and a backup transmitter. Local personalities helped in the fundraising effort, including Bobby Rose of The Pretenders.
KSQM went on the air on Dec. 7, 2008, and has been broadcasting 24/7 ever since. The electronics have been in service full-time for almost eight years.
As a commercial-free radio, KSQM relies on listener support through tax-deductible contributions and business support through program underwriting.
“This was an appeal directly to our listeners in Sequim, Port Angeles and the Olympic Peninsula … as well as Victoria B.C. … and throughout the world via the Internet,” KSQM program director Jeff Bankston said. “This has proven the value of our local radio … and demonstrated the devotion of our volunteers as well as the kind generosity of those who listen.”
Radio KSQM 91.5 FM is a service of Sequim Community Broadcasting, a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation and a Washington registered charitable organization, with studios located at 577 W. Washington St., Sequim, WA 98382 and website www.ksqmfm.com.
