Mr. and Mrs. David McHugh of Sequim announce the engagement of their daughter, Lydia Anne McHugh, to Xavier A. Hicks Jr., son of Xavier Hicks Sr. of Anaheim, Calif., and Marcie Cortez of Buena Park, Calif.

Lydia graduated from Sequim High School in 2006 and from Eastern Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts in communications studies and public relations in 2011. She is employed in management at Abercrombie & Fitch in Santa Ana, Calif.

Xavier graduated from Fullerton High School in 2005 and from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Arts in comparative ethnic studies in 2010. He is employed in management at Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Santa Ana, Calif.

The wedding is planned for Sept. 20 at the Eberle Farm in Dungeness.
