Stephen Fofanoff presented a check for $1,265.53 to the Boys & Girls Club of Olympic Peninsula at the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon on Wednesday, May 11, at the Elwha Heritage Training Center in Port Angeles.

The donation check came from tips left by customers in the his business, the Jig and Lure Fish Company Restaurant, during April, with a matching donation provided by the restaurant, as part of an innovative honest price policy.

The employees choose a local charity each month and all tips collected during the month are donated to the charity at the Chamber’s monthly luncheon.

“We believe Port Angeles is worth investing in,” Fofanoff said. “We want to invest in the community by beautifying part of the waterfront, we want to invest in the people by providing living wages and we want to invest in the local nonprofits who help bring out the best in all of us. This isn’t a one-time donation. This is a part of an ongoing effort to better connect the business and nonprofit communities, to unify us in the common goal of ensuring Port Angeles is the best place in the world to live, work and play.”

The Boys & Girls Club is about to launch a fundraising campaign to build a new clubhouse in Port Angeles because they’ve outgrown their current facility.
