The Sequim Guild of Seattle Children’s hospital celebrates 40 years this month. Thanks to the efforts of Sherry Phillips and a handful of dedicated women, the Sequim Guild of Seattle Children’s Hospital was established back in February 1976. The guild is now one of the largest in Washington with a membership of 108-plus dedicated to making the difference in the lives of young patients in need of financial medical help.

Seattle Children’s Hospital will be honoring the Sequim Guild at its annual meeting and luncheon celebration at the Westin Hotel in Seattle on May 6 and several local guild members will be attending.

Sequim Guild for Seattle Children’s Hospital works tirelessly to raise funds for uncompensated care and also is a research support guild for the hospital. Its fundraising efforts include bunco luncheons hosted at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Purchase a Miracle in the local grocery stores, The Stars of Tomorrow Benefit Concert, its huge annual garage sale the third weekend in July, selling pies, jams and jellies at the August Rotary Salmon Bake and its Holiday Bazaar in November at the Sequim Grange.

Members also make blankets, knit caps, hospital dolls and other clothing articles for the patients at the hospital.

The guild welcomes new members and meets the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. from September-June at the Lodge at Sherwood Village, 660 Evergreen Way, in the upstairs conference room. Visit sequimguild.org for more information.
