Milestone: Sequim High pages serve in Olympia

Ashley Rosales and Allison Van De Wege, both students at Sequim High School, recently served as pages in the Washington State House of Representatives. They were sponsored by state Rep. Kevin Van De Wege (D-Sequim).

Ashley Rosales and Allison Van De Wege, both students at Sequim High School, recently served as pages in the Washington State House of Representatives. They were sponsored by state Rep. Kevin Van De Wege (D-Sequim).

Rosales is the daughter of Kim and Stephen Rosales. She volunteers at the local food bank and plays tennis and flute.

Van De Wege is the daughter of Jennifer and Kevin Van De Wege. She studies and performs ballet, tap and jazz dance.

Both girls are active in Sequim High School’s leadership class.

Pages perform a wide variety of responsibilities, from presenting the flags to distributing amendments on the House floor. In addition to contributing to the efficient operation of the Legislature, pages receive daily civics instruction, draft their own bills and participate in mock committee hearings.
