Talk about a one-two punch.
Sequim’s Kathrin Sumpter and son Sam Manders earned promotions in their Tae Kwon Do training recently, Manders on Aug. 12 and Sumpter the following day. Manders was promoted to 2nd Dan (2nd degree black belt) and Sumpter to 5th Dan.
Manders is a student at Pacific Lutheran University.
“We’ve been training hard,” Sumpter says, “but when he came home for the summer, we got to train together every day.”
Sumpter and Manders are pictured here at Sumpter’s Sequim Martial Arts on Sept. 1, the studio’s 10th anniversary.
