Soroptimist International of Sequim recently recognized its selections for Girls of the Month for September and October.

Mercedes Woods, right, was chosen for September and participates in Honor Society, is senior class publicity chairman and is a member of the school’s Be the Change and Interact clubs. Woods is considering doing a year with AmeriCorps, but has applied to Pacific University, Western Washington University, Central Washington University and Northern Arizona University.

Adrienne Haggerty has been involved in SHS’s volleyball, fastpitch and basketball teams. She was the recipient of the Soroptimist Violet Richardson award for volunteerism.

Haggerty’s efforts include Dungeness River Audubon Center, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Sequim Softball Boosters and Sequim High School Link Crew.

In addition, Haggerty was recognized as Artist of the Month at Blue Whole Gallery for her ceramic sculpture, “Spooned.”
