Peninsula Long Rifle club holds 37th rendezvous

Peninsula Long Rifle Association held its 37th Sequim Summer Rendezvous from July 22-25 off Taylor-Cutoff Road.

About 125 participants shot rifles, pistols and arrows, and threw knives and tomahawks in trail and skill competitions.

Special events included a skillet toss, underwear shoot and egg shoot.

Men, women and children dress and live like settlers during the event, using only primitive tools and weapons.

Participant Christine Stockman, of Port Angeles, has competed in Sequim for five years and says the event gives her an appreciation for what her ancestors had to do.

Peninsula Long Rifle Association has 100 members. For more information, contact Pete Hawkins at 457-3876 or Deb Rupp at 452-6755 or send mail to PLR, P.O. Box 958, Port Angeles, WA 98362.
