Members of the public are invited to join local law enforcement personnel and public officials for the annual 21 Salute Bell Ringing Ceremony in honor of fallen law enforcement heroes. The event begins at 1:30 Monday, May 16, in Veterans Memorial Park, 217 S. Lincoln St., Port Angeles, just north of the County Courthouse.
The program also includes the reading of a proclamation by Clallam County Commissioner Mike Chapman; remarks from Port Angeles Police Chief Terry Gallagher and Clallam County Undersheriff Ron Peregrin; and benediction by Sheriff’s Chaplin Tim Richards. Part of National Police Week 2011, May 15-21, the event honors those who gave their lives in the line of duty. Citizens are encouraged to tie blue ribbons to their car antennas as a reminder of law enforcement personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice and in honor of those who serve their communities every day.
