Sequim’s Noon Rotary Club has donated $10,000 raised by Duck Derby sales to the Boys & Girls Club in Sequim.
Each year, the Noon Rotary Club sells both little yellow ducks and big Very Important Ducks to help support local services.
"The money we raise from Duck Derby sales is used right here in Sequim," said Rotary past president Al Dixon.
"On behalf of the kids … we are so appreciative of this investment in our youth," said Bob Schilling, executive director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula. "This gift will go toward basic program supply needs, small facilities improvements and expenses toward school opening."
The Rotary Club of Sequim is a local service club and nonprofit philanthropic organization assisting the community as well as helping in Rotary International’s worldwide effort to eradicate polio. The club sponsors Sequim Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts as well as local Girl Scouting activities. It gives free hardbound dictionaries to all Sequim fourth-grade elementary school students, awards academic scholarships to graduating Sequim High School students and provides help for many other local children’s activities.
