OAAA offers classes on avoiding falls, managing medications

"Staying Independent through Fall Prevention"

_ 10-11 a.m. Thursday, March 5, at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St., Port Angeles;

_ 10:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, at the Fifth Avenue Retirement Community, 500 W. Hendrickson Road, Sequim.

These presentations include how to reduce hazards in homes; how to recognize personal hazards, such as health issues or physical obstructions; how exercises can increase your strength, flexibility and balance, as well as nutritional recommendations. A free educational video about home safety and exercises will be offered to those who attend.

_ 1:30-3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at Prairie Springs Assisted Living, 680 W. Prairie St., Sequim.

Medication Awareness presentations include ways to manage prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs and herbs safely, wisely and cost effectively; communicating with your doctor and pharmacist; and common medications taken by seniors. A gift will be distributed to attendees.

Both presentations include credit hours for care providers who attend.
