Robert G. Turner
A memorial service at sea is planned for Sequim resident Robert G. Turner, who died Aug. 21, 2008, at the age of 87.
He was born June 30, 1921, in Spokane to Wesley H. and Ruth L. Handy Turner.
He married Jeanne White on Oct. 27, 1946, in Portland, Ore. She preceded him in death on April 3, 2000.
He graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, N.Y., and was a merchant marine engineer.
He also was an insurance underwriter and manager of Travelers Insurance in Seattle, Hartford, Conn., and Dallas, Texas.
He enjoyed computers, model ships, international cruises and square dancing.
He was a member of Retired Engineers Association.
He is survived by his son Terry Turner of Landers, Calif.
Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Joseph Patrick Harkins
A service has been held for Port Angeles resident Joseph Patrick Harkins, who died Aug. 25, 2008, at the age of 90 of
Alzheimer’s disease.
He was born Nov. 15, 1917, in Chicago, Ill., to Joseph Roles and Margaret Lyons Harkins.
He married Norma Bruners on March 25, 1941, in West Union, Iowa.
He was a corporal in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, serving as a radio operator and in special services as a baseball player for the troops.
He attended Upper Iowa University.
Mr. Harkins enjoyed boating, sports, traveling and spending quality time with his family.
He was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Harkins of Port Angeles; sons and daughters-in-law Joseph Patrick and Bonnie Harkins Jr. of Seattle and Dennis and Nancy Harkins of Port Angeles; daughters Celest Ann and Lee Miller of Port Angeles; brother and sister-in-law Redmond and Elizabeth Harkins of Crystal Lake, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughter Norma Jean Rameriz; sisters and brother-in-law Mary and Ed Hidding and Margaret Van Valkenberg; and sister Alice Harkins, who died in childhood.

Ralph J. Blakley
No service has been reported for former Sequim resident Ralph J. Blakley, who died Aug. 23, 2008, at the age of 85 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Born in Denver, Colo., he served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
Mr. Blakley was a banker for 25 years, then moved to Sequim where he had a deli for more than 20 years. He moved to Arizona in 1999.
He is survived by his wife Marian Blakley; daughter Ronni Anderson; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Sandra in 1994.

John Eugene Davis
Port Angeles resident John Eugene Davis died Aug. 28, 2008, at the age of 48.
He was born June 14, 1960, in Pasco, to Ralph and Shirley Lou Jennings Davis.

Sequim resident John Louis Wesesky died Aug. 28, 2008, at the age of 84.
He was born March 4, 1924, in Hawk Run, Pa., to John Andrew and Helen Adams Wesesky.
