Rebecca ‘Becky’ O’Brien

A funeral Mass for Sequim resident Rebecca “Becky” O’Brien will be celebrated at noon Friday, June 27, at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 101 E. Maple St., Sequim,

Barry Sullock

A memorial service for

Sequim resident Barry Sullock will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 27, at

Sequim Seventh-day Adventist Church. Mr. Sullock died June 15, 2008, of lung cancer.

He was born Nov. 22, 1932, in Torquay, England, to Barry Daubney and Phoebe Wiborg Sullock.

He graduated from Cheltenham College in Cheltenham, England, and served in the British Royal Navy.

In 1958 he immigrated to the United States, settling in Los Angeles, Calif.

He married Thelma Heston on Feb. 17, 1984, in Encino, Calif.

Mr. Sullock was president of Reinsurance Facilities Corporation Intermediaries in Los Angeles, Calif., before he retired to Sequim in 1996.

He was an ordained lay reader of St. Anselm of Canterbury in Sequim.

Mr. Sullock’s golden retriever Hannah is a licensed therapy dog with Gentle Paws, the local chapter of Therapy Dog International.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma; daughters Wendy Rogers of Anaheim Hills, Calif., Joanna Sullock of Placentia, Calif.; stepdaughters Barb Byers of Port Angeles and Janet Byers of Bonney Lake; son-in-law Scott Rogers of Anaheim Hills, Calif.; stepson-in-law Mitch Byers of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandson.

Luella M. Oliver

A service has been held for Sequim resident Luella M. Oliver, who died June 15, 2008, at the age of 78 of heart failure.

She was born July 12, 1928, in St. Louis, Mo., to Alvin and Lillian Hansick Dielman.

She married William Bryant Oliver on May 12, 1954, in St. Louis. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2006.

Mrs. Oliver was a beautician for 50 years before retiring to Sequim in October 2006 after the death of her husband.

She loved her church, family, and her new hometown of Sequim.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Sequim.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Trish Bryant and Bill Berend of Sequim; stepdaughters Sarah Reilly of Casper, Wyo., and Linda and Sonny Deguzman of Denver, Colo.; brother Marvin Dielmann of Mesquite, Nev.; sister and brother-in-law Deland and Don Camores of O’Fallon, Mo., 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Drennan & Ford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Larry Gene Barr

At his prior request, no service is planned for Sequim resident Larry Gene Barr, who died June 17, 2008, at the age of 90.

He was born Sept. 10, 1917, in West Jefferson, N.C., the first of nine children of Charles Hamilton and Ollie Missouri Poe Barr.

He married Edith Mae West on April 16, 1950, at the Puget Sound Shipyard in Bremerton. He served in the United States Navy for 30 years, retiring to the Sequim-Dungeness area in 1965 with the rank of chief warrant officer 4.

Mr. Barr earned an Associate of Arts degree from Peninsula College in 1968.

He was a passionate golfer, avid hunter and fisherman, and bee and garden enthusiast.

He was a member of Retired Officer’s Association and Fleet Reserve Association, and a charter member of Dungeness Golf and Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Barr of Sequim; daughters and sons-in-law Debbie Barr and Paul Chromey of Tacoma, and Trudie Grace and Frederick Wardy of New York; brothers and sister-in-law Howard Barr of Anchorage, Alaska, Edward and Linda Barr of Spanishburg, W.Va., Roy and Mollie Thurmond Barr of North Carolina, and Dottie Barr of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister Blanche Heffernan of Rockville, Md.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brother Ray Barr.

Memorial contributions may be sent to a charity of choice.
