The next meeting of the North Olympic Peninsula Chapter of Puget Sound Anglers features a visit from Miranda Wecker, Washington state Department of Fish and Wildlife Commissioner.
Wecker will speak about the Skokomish River sport fishing closure, the Department Washington Wild Future initiative including license fee changes and a review of the status of recreational halibut fishery at the meeting, set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., Sequim.
There will be time for other member questions as well.
Wecker was first appointed to the commission in March 2005 and was reappointed by Gov. Christine Gregoire in January 2007 and Gov. Jay Inslee in 2013. The commission elected her to serve as chairman from January 2009-January 2015.
A graduate of the University of Washington School of Law with Juris Doctor and Master’s of Law degrees, Wecker has more than 25 years of experience working on natural resource policies at the international, national, state and local levels.
