The Olympic Medical Center Auxiliary recently presented three Olympic Medical Center departments with needed medical equipment as part of its annual “Wish List” ceremony on July 14 in Linkletter Hall at Olympic Memorial Hospital.
Presented to department directors by auxiliary president Bill Whitten, items included an infant scale and glidescope intubation equipment for the obstetrics unit, a vital signs machine for the intensive care unit and a blanket warmer for the emergency department.
“Hospitals demand up-to-date, quality medical equipment to aid in taking proper care of patients,” said Lorraine Wall, chief nursing officer. “Keeping up with the demands is fiscally challenging and we continue to be grateful to the OMC Auxiliary for supporting us in meeting these needs year after year. We appreciate all the auxiliary and our volunteer group do for us here at Olympic Medical Center.”
The four items donated to Olympic Medical Center totaled nearly $29,000:
• Infant Scale — $5,007
• Glidescope Intubation Equipment — $15,586
• Vital Signs Machine — $3,025
• Replacement Blanket Warmer — $5,299
Finding the funding
The OMC Auxiliary raises funds for Olympic Medical Center through the auxiliary-run hospital gift shop, seasonal sales events and other fundraisers throughout the year.
Additionally, Olympic Medical Center volunteers make a significant impact by giving their time and expertise to work with patients, visitors and staff throughout OMC.
“Volunteers at Olympic Medical Center contribute hundreds of in-service hours each year, working in various different areas, and they do so because they enjoy making a positive impact in the community,” Whitten said. “The OMC Auxiliary furthers this mission by working hard to raise needed funds to support the hospital’s mission of providing excellence in health care.”
