One pedestrian was hurt and another uninjured in a car-versus-pedestrians incident at a crosswalk on North Sequim Avenue this morning, Wednesday, July 21.

According to a Washington State Patrol report, Deon and Richard Williams of Poulsbo were walking eastbound in the crosswalk just north of the Sequim Avenue-Cedar Street intersection when they were struck by a Chevrolet HHR — a sports utility vehicle — driven by 87-year-old Alice O’Donnell of Port Ludlow.

Deon Williams, a 76-year-old female, sustained injuries to the head, hand and hip, and was transported from the scene to Olympic Medical Center, according to the report.

Richard Williams, 73, was not injured.

The report said the cause was O’Donnell’s failure to yield to the pedestrians, who already were in the crosswalk.

The collision occurred at 10:42 a.m. Sequim Police officers and a sheriff’s deputy arrived on the scene, blocking off the street to traffic for more than an hour as law enforcement investigated.
