The Peninsula College Foundation is looking for community members who are passionate about education and realize just how important a college education is in this tough economy.
The foundation plans to honor individuals who donate $1,000 or more as esteemed members at the President’s Circle level.
Membership to the President’s Circle comes with special invitations to exclusive events each year, including an annual "State of the College" address by President Thomas Keegan. A special event for President’s Circle members this year will be an exclusive invitation to dine with the Washington State Supreme Court justices in October. Other benefits include receptions with visiting scholars and the college’s Writer_in_Residence as well as special recognition at college events.
The Foundation Board, which is made up of community members and college alumni from all walks of life, including health care professionals, small business owners, lawyers, farmers and retirees, is proud of the college and the work it does to support the college and, through it, the larger community. Board members contributed more than a quarter of a million dollars of their own funds in the past 10 years.
This year alone board members have raised more than $77,000 for library resources for students and community members to use in the new college library/media center that opened for the start of the fall 2008 quarter. This year, too, the foundation spearheaded an employee giving campaign that increased staff and faculty giving by more than 140 percent.
