Peninsula College actors will be stepping to center stage on Thursday, Nov. 13, when the college opens its fall drama selection for a six-day run.

Subsequent show dates are Nov. 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22.

"The Clean House," is a captivating comedy by Sarah Ruhl that premiered in 2004 at the Yale Repertory Theatre and received the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, awarded annually to the best English_language play written by a woman. It was also a Pulitzer Prize finalist.

Dr. Lara Starcevich, the new speech and drama instructor at the college, is directing the play. Starcevich directed plays at a variety of other colleges and theaters before joining the P.C. faculty this past summer from Colorado, where she was program manager for the Gunnison Arts Center and an adjunct professor at Western State College.

P.C. student cast members and understudies include Nikkole Adams and Zoe Shields of Forks, CC Morrow and William Peck_Collier of Port Angeles, and Rebecca Barnett, Lissa Karapostoles, David McComas and Sara J. White, all of

Sequim.

Critics have raved about Ruhl’s play since it opened. Variety called the play a "… wondrously mad and moving work …" and Charles Isherwood of The New York Times wrote that it is a deeply romantic comedy, "… visionary, tinged with fantasy, extravagant in feeling, maybe a little nuts."

Another critic noted that Ruhl’s "sense of rhythm and image on a stage puts you in mind of something you might see at Sundance."

Evening show times are 8 p.m., with Friday matinees starting at 3 p.m.

Due to content and some language, the play is suggested for mature audiences only.

Tickets are $8 general admission. P.C. students with current IDs will be admitted free. Tickets are available one hour prior to show time at the box office of the Little Theater.
