Some of the finest vocal talent on the peninsula turned out for three nights of competition for King’s Way Foursquare Church’s ninth annual Pass the Mic program.
Jeremy Peterson won first place and $500. Second place and $250 went to Courtney Nelson and Kelly Wilson won third place and $125.
Chris Goff, event coordinator, said 26 adults competed in the 14 and older competition and nine children competed in the 13 and under bracket. Bailey Bryant won the youth competition and $100.
Goff said the number of competitors was on the higher end from years past and about double from 2010.
The event’s tickets and auction items raised about $15,000 for construction of King’s Way water system, with $1,500 going to the church’s Haiti missions this May.
“It was just a phenomenal night,” Goff said.
“A lot of people turned out with a great amount of support. We had more volunteers than ever. It was just outstanding.”
