Police nab suspect wanted in robbery case

Sequim police officers took 58-year-old Garland Lavell Seals into custody Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery in Port Angeles on Dec. 29.

Seals also had a Texas Department of Corrections felony warrant for a parole violation associated with an armed robbery in Harris County, Texas, police sources said in a news release.

During the early morning hours of Jan. 9, officers from the Sequim and Port Angeles police departments, along with Clallam County Sheriff’s Office deputies and agents from U.S. Customs and Border Patrol Protection, served a search warrant at a residence on the 3200 block of Sequim Bay Road, seeking Seals and items associated with the armed robbery in Port Angeles in December.

Not finding Seals at the residence, officers began to look for him and his vehicle in the surrounding area. At about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sequim police officers Mike Hill and John Southard located and stopped Seals in downtown Sequim. He was taken into custody on the felony warrant and transported to the Clallam County jail in Port Angeles.

Seals was booked into the Clallam County jail on the Texas arrest warrant and on one count of robbery in the first degree, according to police sources.

Investigators continue the process of conducting interviews, examining evidence and serving additional search warrants.
