Port Angeles police say they are investigating an incident that happened Saturday, June 13, in which a man allegedly drove by a Black Lives Matter march and hit people with eggs the Peninsula Daily News reports.

The incident allegedly occurred about 6 p.m. Saturday in front of the Clallam County Courthouse. A video posted on Facebook shows a man in a dark Ford F-150 pickup tossing eggs at demonstrators in front of the courthouse.

No one was reportedly injured by the eggs.

Port Angeles Police Sgt. Tom Kuch said a criminal report was taken by the police department. The suspect could face charges of fourth-degree assault, a misdemeanor, for hitting people with eggs.

Kuch said it appeared at least four demonstrators were hit.

Protesters wrote down the man’s license plate number, and the suspected driver’s image was posted online.

Kuch said the vehicle is registered to a Clallam Bay resident.

The Peninsula Daily News is not naming the man because he hasn’t been charged with a crime.

While an arrest had not been made as of Sunday afternoon, Kuch stressed the police department is “enthusiastically” pursuing an investigation.

Kuch said the demonstrations in Port Angeles regarding police brutality in events that have occurred across the country have been largely peaceful. He gave demonstrators credit for continuing to remain peaceful and not escalating the incident Saturday night.

“We appreciate the restraint shown by protesters,” he said.
