Postmarked: Food for Sequim

Carriers deliver 6½ tons of food

Sequim Post Office held its 18th annual Letter Carriers’ Food Drive on Saturday, May 15, to bigger than expected results.

Mail carriers brought in 2,000-3,000 pounds more food this year than in 2009, said Stephen Rosales, president of the Sequim Food Bank, 144 W. Alder St. — close to 13,000 pounds of food, filling more than 400 crates.

Rosales said there were 50 customers for the food bank’s Saturday opening.

The food bank is open 9 a.m.-noon Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. Call 683-1205 or 461-6038.
