A patriotic quilt inspired by blankets and shawls made during the Civil War period will be auctioned off by John Joseph, Rob Brooke and Derrell Sharp, Chapter 5 service officers for the Disabled American Veterans.
Proceeds are used to help veterans in Clallam, Jefferson and Mason counties, although all veterans are welcome wherever they live.
The quilt was made by Phyllis Luther and Margie Myers. Teresa Dubuc of Sleepy Valley Quilt Company in Port Angeles was very helpful with the fabric and Dale Luther, a U.S. Marine veteran, provided the funding for the quilt.
First tickets are available during the Sequim Lavender Weekend (July 18-20) in nonprofit booths in Sequim and Carrie Blake Park, at Sleepy Valley Quilts, 1041 E. First St., Port Angeles, and at Sunny Farms (261461 U.S. Highway 101, Sequim) during Veterans Day in November.
Tickets are $5 each or three for $10.
The drawing for the quilt will be Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
