One local quilt is being raffled off to help the local Disabled American Veterans.

The quilt created by Phyllis Luther and Margie Myers of Port Angeles is on display at Karen’s Quilt Shop, 609 W. Washington St., Ste. 12, Sequim, with tickets on sale for $5 a piece or three for $10 at the shop. All proceeds benefit Disabled American Veterans to help fellow veterans do things like file paperwork for financial assistance and benefits. The drawing is held on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

Karen Kester, owner of the shop, said her husband died of cancer 10 years ago this February due to exposure to Agent Orange and the group helped her follow through on his disability claim.

“We started the claim when he was first diagnosed and I got his disability last year,” she said.

“This group of people has been amazing not just for me but other widows. These people don’t ever give up.”

For more information on the quilt, call the shop at 681-0820 or 683-8440.
