The models may be small, but the interest is large.
Members of the North Olympic Peninsula Railroaders hosted their ninth annual train show at Sequim Prairie Grange’s Macleay Hall last week, hoping to spur interest in the club.
The Railroaders’ group is open to model train enthusiasts of all ages and has members from Sequim, Port Angeles, Port Townsend, Agnew and Carlsborg. The club meets at 3 p.m. on the last Saturday each month at the Sequim Library; yearly dues are $10.
For the past two years, the club has used a working space at the Clallam County Historical Society’s facility at the Lincoln School in Port Angeles; members work on a single, large modular layout that changes frequently; this year’s layout embodies Washington state, with scenes from Western Washington on one side and Eastern Washington on the other.
Club members also visit area model layouts and do trips to railroads and museums.
