Readers Theatre Plus celebrates 10 years with an appreciation event at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, in the Sequim Masonic Lodge, 700 S. Fifth Ave.

Organizers say the event honors its actors and supporters through the years of its mission of “Enriching the Community Through the Arts!” Attendees are encouraged to RSVP to readerstheatreplus@gmail.com.

The event includes a live auction, entertainment performed by the group’s musical stars reprising their much-heralded songs from the past, and the Dewey Awards honoring actors and directors from the past two years. The awards were named after Dewey Ehling for his contributions to the group including leading many musical productions. He recently died of pneumonia on Aug. 7.

Future musical productions tentatively will be led by Janice Parks and Carol Swarbrick Dries but new members and actors remain welcome from across the Olympic Peninsula.

Readers Theatre Plus’ net production, “A Nice Family Gathering” runs Nov. 11-13 and Nov. 18-20 at the Fifth Avenue Retirement Center in Sequim. More details will come soon.

Jim Dries, a board member for the group, said Readers Theatre Plus has raised more than $87,000 in 10 years for local nonprofits and $25,000 for college scholarships from its productions.
