Farm tour tickets for the 13th annual Sequim Lavender Festival are on sale. Festival goers may chose to use one of two discounts:
_ A $5 advance sale coupon is available in the Sequim Gazette and online. The coupon is valid through Thursday, July 16, and must be presented at the time of purchase.
_ A $5 discount is available to all active duty military, National Guard and Reserves and their dependents. To receive the discount, show a valid military ID at a ticket outlet in advance or at the festival.
Only one discount may be used at a time.
The tickets provide admission to all seven farms on tour and rides on the farm tour buses throughout the festival weekend, July 17-19. Farm tour tickets, in the form of a commemorative festival support button, regularly cost $15 (children 12 and under are admitted free).
Each farm has workshops, demonstrations, U-pick, food and entertainment. The buses shuttle visitors between the seven farms and the street fair in downtown Sequim, where visitors will find more than 150 juried vendors, music, Northwest foods and an Olympic Peninsula wine tasting.
Fun on the Field brings together local nonprofit organizations for an old-fashioned small-town celebration on the grassy area just north of the street fair. This new event features a variety of booths offering activities and information.
People can relax while taking in street performers and demonstrations from the comfort of shaded tables, have old-fashioned fun with young members of their groups and learn more about organizations that support the community.
The lavender culinary program features scheduled cooking demonstrations by local chefs at each of the farms on tour on Sunday. Each demonstration includes information on the uses of culinary lavender in the home. Many of the farms produce a variety of culinary products.
The festival closes with the second annual six-course Lavender Celebration Dinner on Sunday night at John Wayne Marina prepared by Chef Tom Heintz. Advance reservations are required.
