Renowned country act at Calvary Chapel

Agajanian comes Aug. 8 to Sequim

From the Grand Ole Opry to the Hollywood Bowl to the White House, Dennis Agajanian, a nationally recognized Christian bluegrass and country musician, is bringing his act to Sequim for three special performances.

He’ll lead worship services at Calvary Chapel Sequim, 91 S. Boyce Road, at its 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services on Sunday, Aug. 8, and hold a special concert at 12:30 p.m.

Plucking to accomplishments

Agajanian began playing guitar at 15 and was unsure what to do with his life until he played at a Christian coffeehouse a few years later in Hollywood.

A positive feeling grew inside of him, leading to his desire for ministry and a yearning to connect with people through his music and lead them to God.

Agajanian has performed with popular artists such as Johnny Cash, Charlie Daniels, Ricky Skaggs and Michael W. Smith.

His fast guitar-plucking talent led to several awards from the Christian Country Music Association including Musician and Entertainer of the Year awards and the 2008 Living Legend award.

He appeared on “That’s Incredible” playing the “William Tell Overture” while on a dirt bike traveling at 60 mph.

Music to ministries

Agajanian supports other ministries through his performances.

During his touring, he’s partnered with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Greg Laurie’s Harvest Crusade and supports ministries across the globe.

Agajanian also partners with his best friend Franklin Graham, son of evangelist Billy Graham, to support three coffee houses in Russia that they helped build to introduce children and young adults to Christianity in a relaxed, non-threatening environment.

His family hosts about 30 Russian exchange students up to four times a year.

He supports efforts to build a clinic in Angola, Africa, with Graham’s Samaritan’s Purse, which provides relief to war-torn countries.

Recently he and his wife, Victoria, spent time in an Eskimo village in Hooper Bay, Alaska, working with youths and encouraging them to share their beliefs in Jesus Christ with others.
