The weekly blotter includes incidents that occurred in the City of Sequim and in unincorporated Clallam County in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley area.

Clallam County Fire District 3 responded to 201 incidents from April 5-12.

Crews fought and contained a brush fire at the Dungeness Spit on April 12 after a fire established itself in an area of driftwood, which was accelerated by high winds. The fire is still under investigation, but district leaders encourage the public to be aware of fire restrictions and safety, and to only hold outdoor warming fires in appropriate areas and always fully extinguish fires.

One way to make sure a warming fire is fully extinguished is to feel the coals, embers, and any partially-burned wood. Everything, including a rock fire ring, should be cool to the touch after fully drowning the fire and then mixing the ashes with soil and more water.
