Drivers on U.S. Highway 101 in Sequim may want to add extra time to their travel plans.
From 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, and Tuesday, Oct. 31, Washington State Department of Transportation crews will close westbound US 101 at milepost 263 approaching River Road for pavement repairs, state officials announced this week.
Travelers going westbound on the highway will detour via the River Road exit and on-ramp. Eastbound travelers will use a single shifted lane through the work zone.
Travelers in both directions can expect congestion and slowdowns approaching River Road while work is underway, state officials said.
The work is planned during daylight hours as warmer temperatures will assist with repairs. State officials said work is weather dependent and could be rescheduled.
Real-time traveler information is available from the WSDOT app and WSDOT Travel Center Map. Travelers are encouraged to sign up for email updates to get the latest information about road work on state highways in Clallam County and Jefferson County.
Traffic changes in Port Townsend
Travelers who use State Route 20 near Port Townsend should take note of an upcoming traffic shift at Kearney Street, state transportation officials said.
On Monday, Oct. 30, westbound travelers on SR 20 at Kearney Street will start using the new roundabout. Travelers heading away from Port Townsend and the ferry terminal will now keep left at that intersection.
Eastbound traffic heading towards the ferry will continue to detour until the roundabout is fully open. The signed detour is available via Benedict Street and Washington Street. Traffic will be in this configuration for about four weeks.
