Members of the Rotary Club of Sequim recently prepared the very busy kitchen of the Boys & Girls Club for the installation of a brand new ice machine, new storage systems and a commercial meat slicer.

Funds for the new items came from the Rotary Club of Sequim along with a matching grant from Rotary District 5020.

The supplier, Eric Schwartz of Olympic Restaurant Supply, installed the machine at no cost to the Boys & Girls Club.

The original Boys & Girls Club kitchen equipment was installed when the building was constructed in 2000 and recently a new, replacement commercial dishwasher was donated by Sequim Sunrise Rotary.

The equipment will allow the staff to expand their summer feeding program for children 1-18 years of age, to another new site, making a total of 10 locations where economically challenged children can get a nutritious meal during the summer season when school is out and the free and reduced lunch program is not available.

Club members and community groups who use the Boys & Girls Club kitchen for functions also will benefit by the installation of the efficient equipment.

Among the Rotarians helping were Dave Collins, Cy Frick, Bob Macaulay, Dick Hughes, Rochelle McHugh, David Mattingley, Don Sorensen, Paul McHugh and Dr. Brian Marts.
