Saturday car wrecks in Sequim leave two hospitalized

The first wreck, at 1:21 p.m. leaves Mindy Aisling, 35, and her son Noah Carlson, 11, in satisfactory condition at Harborview Medical Center as of Tuesday afternoon.

The Washington State Patrol reports Ronald Wilcox, 59, of Port Angeles, allegedly swerved over the center line on U.S. Highway 101 to avoid stopped traffic trying to turn left near Louella Road. His 2007 GMC truck collided head-on in the eastbound lane with a 2013 Toyota Prius driven by Logan Aisling, 45.

Logan was treated and released at Olympic Medical Center the same day but Mindy and Noah were flown to Harborview.

Wilcox was not injured but his passenger, Cori Wilcox, 14, was injured and transported to OMC and released the same day.

Washington State Patrol is investigating vehicular assault charges against Wilcox because allegedly drugs or alcohol were involved. The road was closed for two hours and 20 minutes.

Logan Aisling is a math teacher at Port Angeles High School and Mindy Aisling is a marketing representative for the Peninsula Daily News, Sequim Gazette and Forks Forum.

Second wreck

At 3:55 p.m. Saturday, a Sequim man was injured and transported to Olympic Medical Center following a four-car-collision.

Washington State Patrol reports Michael Davis, 34, of Sequim, and other drivers were traveling east on U.S. Highway 101 and slowing for traffic near Sequim Avenue.

Reports state Davis in his 2002 Kia Rio allegedly struck Michael Merryfield, 63, of Federal Way, in his 2013 Honda Ridgeline truck causing Merryfield to strike Laurence Paquette, 58, of Gig Harbor in his 2010 Honda CRV and to strike Karen Grabo, 59, of Kenmore in her 2014 Hyundai Elantra.

Olympic Medical Center reports Davis was released later that night.

Washington State Patrol said the cause for the collisions were due to Davis’ alleged inattention and speeding.
