Scammers continue to pester Sequim residents with phone calls, e-mails and letters.

Several readers have sent in scams pinpointed to Sequim residents, particula

rly those over 60, ranging from airline scams to more recently Costco deliveries and fake vacation trips.

Deputy Chief Sheri Crain with the Sequim Police Department said the police haven’t heard of anything that seems out of the norm.

“They’re all variations on the same thing,” she said. “People need to be a little more diligent especially with Target’s data breach. They should always be cautious about giving out information.”

Crain said they encourage people to report scams as they come in. “If there is some sort of loss, then we may send you to the state attorney general,” she said. “They have some capacity to operate on a bigger stage.”

If you do fall for a scam, contact your bank or credit card company immediately and then check with the state consumer protection division.
