Teacher of the Month nominations open

KONP News Radio 1450 has opened nominations for its Teacher of the Month awards through November.

The program is open to teachers in the Sequim, Port Angeles and Crescent School districts, plus Queen of Angels and Olympic Christian schools.

To nominate a teacher, explain in 100 words or less why this teacher should be honored. Include your name and phone number. Mail entries to KONP Teacher of the Month, 721 E. First St., Port Angeles, WA 98362, or drop off entries at address listed above.

Register now for December ACT test

Registration is open for the Dec. 11 ACT achievement test. Students who wish to take the college admission and placement exam must register before Nov. 5.

The ACT is a curriculum-based, precollege exam with four sections – English, mathematics, reading and science – and takes about three hours to complete. Students who take the ACT Plus Writing complete an optional writing test that requires an additional 30 minutes.

ACT scores are accepted by all four-year colleges and universities across the United States.

Cost for the ACT test without writing is $33 or $48 with the writing exam.

Registration is available until Nov. 19 for an extra $21 fee.
