Parents needed for

grad party planning

Parents of graduating seniors from Sequim High School, Sequim Community School or homeschooling seniors are needed to volunteer for the 2008 graduation party.

Workers are needed in all aspects of party planning.

Committees include: activities and schedules; procurement; decorations; chaperones; venue and pictures; food; flamingo fundraising; and the golf tournament.

Interested parents are encouraged to meet at 7 p.m, March 13 at the school district boardroom in the Performing Arts Building, 533 N. Sequim Ave.

Ohmert graduates

cum laude from MWSU

Brittney Ohmert, from the Sequim High School class of 2002, graduated cum laude from Missouri Western State University in December 2007.

Ohmert was a Scholastic Key Award recipient and also voted outstanding public relations major.

She is the daughter of Guy Ohmert of Port Angeles and Becky Enquest of Spokane.

scholarships

The Olympic Peninsula International Footprint Association, Chapter 47, offers scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend two- and four-year college, particularly those planning to study law enforcement or firefighting.

Scholarships range from $500-$1,000. Application deadline is March 17.

Garden club offers

science scholarship

Peninsula College is accepting applications for the Port Angeles Garden Club scholarships, for new and continuing students working toward a degree in a field of science related to the environment.

Successful applicants receive a $1,000 award for the 2008-09 academic year.

Applications are available from the scholarship coordinator at Port Angeles High School, 304 E. Park Ave., or at the Peninsula College Financial Aid Office, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
