School district seeking public comments on bond

Sequim School District leaders are providing an opportunity for the community to voice their thoughts on the recent school facilities bond election.

In an effort to gather input from as many of the school district’s stakeholders as possible, a series of listening events have been scheduled. These events, open to the public, will each be one hour in length and take place in the Sequim High School library, 601 N. Sequim Ave.

The listening events are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19; 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 22; 6 p.m. Thursday, March 24; and 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26.

“This is not meant to be a Q&A session, a presentation or a debate,” Sequim schools superintendent Gary Neal said. “This is meant only to offer Sequim community members the opportunity to give their opinion.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to address Neal and representatives from the Sequim School Board with their remarks.

If preferred, written comments also will be accepted. Paper forms will be provided as needed.

“What we hope to achieve with these listening events is to gather community input regarding the last school construction bond,” Neal said. “The input will be recorded, categorized and made available on the district’s website. This information will be used to guide our future planning.”
