At about 7 p.m. on May 16, 30-year-old burglary suspect Aaron Scott Markishtum was arrested without incident by detectives with the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.

Clallam County Sheriff’s Office officials made the arrest, the result of several hours of surveillance, on the north side of U.S. Highway 101 between Carlsborg Road and Joslin Road. Deputies established probable cause for Markishtum’s arrest for first degree burglary on April 27 that occurred at a residence near Joyce.

The burglary was captured on video by a home security system in which law officials identified an individual as Markishtum.

Because Markishtum armed himself with a deadly weapon — a sword — the residential burglary was elevated to a burglary first degree, a felony, sheriff’s department officials said this week.

Detectives were able to associate Markishtum with three other burglaries based on shoe print pattern and method of forcing entry into crime scenes.

These burglaries include a residence on Freshwater Bay on April 28, a garage at Addi Lane on April 28 and a residence on Edgewood Lane on May 2.

Markishtum was booked into the Clallam County Corrections Facility while detectives continue the investigation.
