A Sequim resident was uninjured after he swerved to avoid a head-on collision in Jefferson County on Monday, April 13.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Von E. Reifenstahl, 46, was driving a Freightliner tractor truck and towing a trailer northbound on state Route 19 about five miles south of Chimacum when an unidentified vehicle crossed the center line.

Reifenstahl swerved the truck to avoid the collision, struck a ditch and came to rest on the truck’s passenger side, the report noted.

The roadway was blocked for five hours.

The incident was still under investigation as of Tuesday morning.
